Bio

Aló Django is Galician based project that find its inspiration in jazz music and centroeuropean traditional gypsy music, a popular combination also known as gypsy swing, or jazz manouche.

It’s a liric, cheerful and acoustic style made famous by its most important figure, the guitarist Django Reinhardt. Aló Django is also a sparkling show beyond the music language, since you can expect some occasional  stand-up comedy interaction with the audience, in a funny and gentle manner, bringing together music and other entertainment scenic genres based on cabaret or music hall, scenic fields where our front-man has also developed his career.

To sum up, Aló Django has an important aim: to spread the manouche music across Spain and  Portugal (always in a very humble way, since our ethnic origin is not gypsy but really in-love with their music) , through a concert with loads of “swing” and a pinch of comedy.

Whether you think jazz is boring, that’s because you haven’t heard yet Alo Django. Try us! On a regular basis, our line up is the following one:

Xabier Mera…………………………..voice, rhythm guitar
David “Tato” Rodríguez…………..lead guitar
Quim Farinha…………………………violin
Alfonso  Calvo…………………………double bass

*Just in special occasions we have the collaboration of a pleasant and delightful tap-dancing player called Gail Brevitt. You can check her abilities on our promotional video.
