Bio

Carlo Colombo is a composer, arranger, songwriter and pianist from Treviso, born in 1970, started playing the piano at the age of fourteen with the study of classical music.

The Carlo Colombo Project performs a repertoire of jazz-swing original songs and classic covers. Carlo Colombo sings of real life stories and plays his piano accompanied by seasoned and even very famed jazz musicians.

The Carlo Colombo Project has performed in many different lineups at many events and jazz festivals throughout Italy, including Arezzo Jazz, Veneto Jazz, Jazz & Wine festival in Gorizia, SanGiezz Festival in Termoli, and at many jazz venues including the Chet Baker club of Bologna, the Vapore club of Marghera, Venice, the Jazz Club 900 of Venice, and the Osteria del Jazz and the Jumpin’Jazz Ballroom of Milan.

The Carlo Colombo 7et is the novelty for 2019. A swing dance orchestra composed of seven elements with piano, double bass, drums, clarinet, guitar, violin, cello, vocals and back vocals. This new lineup adds to the existing formats of Carlo Colombo Piano e Vocals, Carlo Colombo Trio, Carlo Colombo Quartet and Carlo Colombo Quintet.

With their unusual and quirky string arrangements of standards from the swing repertoire, the Septet indulges even more in the classic swing vibes to create elegant and captivating atmospheres as the backdrop for a sound experience of timeless fun and charm.

The Carlo Colombo 7et features some among the most virtuoso musicians of both the jazz and classical music Venetian scene, who animate the swing dance orchestra with amazing wit and style.

The signature sound of the Septet is strictly acoustic, sophisticated and absolutely captivating. The triple harmony section made up of clarinet, violin and cello and the pulsating rhythmic section including guitar, drums and double bass range from a classic 40-50’s swing sound up to sounds closer to last century’s 20-30’s.

The whole project is intended as a discovery – or re-discovery – of the unmistakable vibes of swing, an unvanishing genre that cradles dancers and listeners are with tunes that leave them with a feeling of joy and lightness.

The proposed repertoire includes both original swing songs written and composed by Carlo Colombo as well as popular favourites, both sung and instrumental, such as Paolo Conte’s Via Con Me, All of Me, Quel Motivetto, In Cerca di Te, Just a Gigolo, Carina, The Most Beautiful in the World, Cantina Band, Tain’t What You Do (Dimmi Come Fai), Take the “A” train, Mille Lire al Mese, and many more.

Thanks to the professionalism and skills of the orchestra and their in-depth knowledge of the international repertoire, the Septet is very sought-after, especially in Italy, for private parties and receptions, with a vast repertoire of both instrumental and sung evergreens.

The show is ideal for theatres but also for public spaces and piazzas as well as for dance halls, private parties and for anyone seeking to offer their guests a fun and timeless emotional journey.

The show can also easily adapt to become a street performance for a transient audience – all year round – to create a cheerful and elegant atmosphere for an extremely broad kind of audience also including families and children.
